NVMe device is dropping offline, try this:

on Main click on the flash drive, scroll down to "Syslinux Configuration", make sure it's set to "menu view" and add this to your default boot option, after "append initrd=/bzroot"

nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 pcie_aspm=off pcie_port_pm=off

e.g.:

append initrd=/bzroot nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 pcie_aspm=off pcie_port_pm=off

Reboot (or power cycle the server if just a reboot doesn't bring the device back) and then see if it makes a difference.

Hello again, Thank you so much!

For now it works, but do i have to do anything else later?? enable/disable anything?

Thanks!

You will need to run it for a few days with those kernel options to see whether it helps or not.

Hello again..

Now it happened again:(

Any other fix??

Thank you!

If it still happens, the best bet is replacing the NVMe device with a different brand/model or the board.

Hello again, and thank you!

Is there a way to check a ssd nvme for errors in unraid? I've seen that it is possible in windows but do i have to install windows on a secound pc and then switch it out the ssd to check??

I was hoping for a way to check without windows. Could there possible be a program that works from a usb-stick??

Thank you so much!!

regards.

When an NVMe device drops like this, it's not typically a bad device; it's a compatibility issue between the device, the board, and the kernel. That's why generally using a different one helps.

Hello again and thank you.

So the solution would be a new nvme?? another question i have is how do i check my ssd?, Would it be possible if i unplug all my harddrives and then install windows on the nvme, to see what crystal disk shows??

And if that works, will i have to re-plug-in the harddrives to the exactly the same sata ports as before??

Thank you!

You can run an extended SMART test, but like mentioned, the device should be fine.

Hello again and thank you)

I'm considering what part i should replace as first choice, do you have a recommendation?

I'm having trouble deciding because my ssd has been in use and working without issue for about a year now, and since the problem occurred out of the blue for no apparent reason, i'm a bit concerned. Is it normal for an ssd to just...break down like this?

Are there any steps i need to take preemptively to avoid this in the future?

That is why i could use a recommendation regarding what part is most likely to ensure smooth operation in the future.

Thank you!

Again, I don't think the device is the problem. It could have, for example, started to happen now if you updated Unraid recently (newer kernel)
