July 6, 201214 yr My issue is fixed. I removed the Intel nic that wasn't connected and now it's running back at normal speeds and syslog shows Jul 6 17:32:50 NAS2 kernel: eth0: Identified chip type is 'RTL8168C/8111C'. (Network) instead of the Intel® PRO/1000 Network Connection. How and why it was using Intel drivers when the on-board was connected I won't know but who cares as long as it's back to normal. I appreciate your help.
July 7, 201214 yr Author Sorry everyone for the delayed reply. My new NIC arrived two days ago, but I just got around to installing it today. I can happily report that this has solved my issue. I just did some test transfers, and everything is working great!
July 8, 201214 yr Good to hear. Did you disable your onboard LAN in the BIOS? I would recommend doing this if you haven't; it can help prevent conflicts and minimizes resource usage (though the performance gain is likely negligible).
July 8, 201214 yr Author Actually no I forgot to disable the onboard LAN, but I agree I do need to do that. Thanks for the reminder.
