I downloaded the USB Creator file from https://unraid.net/getting-started. The file as downloaded is named:

Unraid_USB_Creator-v2.0.11.1-unraid.0-desktop-x86_64.AppImage

Upon launching the app, the Title bar of the window shows: Unraid USB Creator v2.0.11.1-unraid.0-dirty

Should I be concerned about the "-dirty" that is seemingly randomly appended? As well, the app never finishes writing the file. It continually displays "Writing...100%" before eventually throwing an error saying the app is not responding.

As you can see if you mouseover the download link, it should be .exe file. Make sure your browser isn't blocking the download.

trurl, it seems that the appimage is for the linux installer, not Windows, not having an .exe seems fine if that's the goal.

As for the rest of the question, I cannot answer. The "dirty" part seems odd, but I don't know linux that well.

The -dirty suffix refers to the source checkout used to build the application. It does not refer to your USB drive and is not, by itself, a security concern.

The application hanging at Writing...100% is not expected. That percentage can be reached before final flushing, post-write processing, unmounting, and ejecting are complete; I've seen it take several minutes in some cases to completely flush. And you should not assume the USB is complete or remove it without safely unmounting it.

Please provide your Linux distribution/version, USB model and connection method, and terminal output from the AppImage during the failure. Testing another flash drive connected directly to the computer would also help distinguish an application problem from a stalled USB device.

On prior attempts I had accessed the USB Creator app through the GUI file explorer app. Having run the app from the terminal this time I was able to see the following output despite the GUI still displaying Writing...100%.

Thanks for posting the output. The log shows that filesystem sync completed, the write finished successfully, and the USB was unmounted and ejected.

Since the window still showed “Writing...100%,” this appears to be a completion-display problem. The log does not indicate that this attempt was still waiting for data to flush.

Does the resulting USB boot Unraid successfully?
