July 9, 201213 yr I upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0-rc05. One of the requirement is to create a new user and run new permission script. Therefore I created a new user: root_root + password After running a script in File Properties / Security I can see that files that were already on unRaid box have permissions set to: nobody(Tower\nobody) However, when I copy a new file to a share, permissions are set to: main user(Tower\root_root) Computer from which files were copied can access and read file (using SAMBA), other computers on my LAN are unable to open file due to security restrictions. It would make more sense if root_root had similar rights as original root user. Is there any way to grant all access to root_root user? Running a permission script after each time I drop some files on my server is not an ideal solution.
July 9, 201213 yr This behavior is correct. Are all the computers logging in as root_root? Perhaps the other computers are still using root?
July 9, 201213 yr Author I am not sure how to check this. TOWER is available under Network icon/tree. When selecting Tower, there are no properties, it's just visible as SAMBA share I am using Windows 7
July 10, 201213 yr Control Panel > Credential Manager - Make sure the wrong log-in is not forced in here. Add a new login and set your server to root_root. If you are using mapped drives, unmapped them and remap them with "used different credentials" checked, and use root_root. Repeat for all devices that access the server.
July 10, 201213 yr Author I followed your instructions and added "TOWER\root_root" + password in Credential Manager. Then rebooted machines and now I have access to folders and files on my unRaid box. Thank you very much for your help
