August 7, 201213 yr If I turn off SMB on my drives (flash, drive1, drive2, etc) so that they aren't visible when I go to //tower will unRAID continue to function properly? I find it a bit overwhelming to see eight drives PLUS my actual shares. I'd much rather have to go in and turn on the sharing on the drives for those instances where I need to directly access a them. But, I don't want to mess up other functionality. Thanks in advance. Richard
August 7, 201213 yr You can just choose to export the share as hidden. That way you can type the path in to access the disk shares if you ever need to, but the shares aren't visible when you browse the unRAID resource. This is ideal as you don't need to modify anything if you ever want to access a disk share.

August 15, 201213 yr Author how have yall done this? through smb-extra.conf? Would you guys mind sharing your smb extra? I did it through the gui. From the main page I clicked on each drive and then scrolled down to the SMB setting and changed the public to hidden. tada! Hope this helps. Richard
