Ford Prefect
....just found these: http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Core/index.cfm#FCBGA1023 If you need to stay compact but want a real server with dual or quad NIC, IPMI and all, these are a new option. The models shown with i5 and i7 CPUs are even suitable for (real) ESXi builds since they support vt-d feature. ...but man...do they carry a heavy price tag... Link to comment
dikkiedirk
Looks nice, but not suitable for a low-cost server. Link to comment
Johnm
These have the same disadvantage as the sandybridge predecessor. They are mobile CPUs. Those are hard to find and never cheap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment
BobPhoenix
These have the same disadvantage as the sandybridge predecessor. They are mobile CPUs. Those are hard to find and never cheap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Based on the manual for the X9SPV-F they come with the CPU already installed like an ATOM. Probably why they are so expensive. So you could just add memory and go. "One (1) Supermicro Motherboard with CPU and Heatsink installed" pg 1-1 from manual. Link to comment
BobPhoenix
Looks nice, but not suitable for a low-cost server. At 572.91 for MB and CPU it isn't too bad. Still about 200 over some other low cost servers but still not bad. Link to comment

Ford Prefect
....http://geizhals.at/de/?in=&fs=x9spv-f A "vanilla" SM LGA1155/1156 and i3/xeon would come at approx 300-350 EUR...so 200+ more to spend on the X9SPV-Fxxxx Interestingly, on the link above...the bulk-versions are more expensive than their retail brothers...something I've seen quite often for boards from SM around my market here. spylex
Wow they are expensive here in the UK as well, the i5 model is only available on LambdaTek http://www.lambda-tek.com/MBD-X9SPV-F-3610ME-B-Supermicro-MBD-X9SPV-F-3610ME-B~cs/B934984&origin=gbaseGB11.5 Although this would make an ideal server with this case http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product/product06.php?pr_index=584&cl_index=1&sc_index=25&ss_index=67&g=f Add a 8 port controller and SSD for cache and 6+1 drives, would give a potential 24TB if you splash on 4TB drives. Expensive build but dreamy! Link to comment
