August 31, 201213 yr I have a user share called "Adult" and it's hidden with private security, but I can still navigate to the files under network locations tower/disc1/adult/pictures/etc. Is there any way to make this not findable on machines without the proper user share permission? I suddenly have people living in my house, and they don't need to access, or even be aware of these files. thanks
August 31, 201213 yr Turn off disk shares? Or at least set them to hidden. You also might want to not run unmenu permanently if you have it installed, as there is no quick and easy way to keep people from poking around with it. If the people attempting to probe your network are computer savvy, you may need to change your entire storage setup, as unraid isn't exactly the most secure setup.
September 1, 201213 yr Author how do I turn off disc shares? I only see setup for user shares, not disc shares.
September 1, 201213 yr I seem to recall if you put a "." in front of a file or directory name in Linux, the object becomes invisible. In your case, it would be ".Adult". Not entirely foolproof, but it might defeat the casual user of your server.
