[Solved] Still Suffering - Supermicro X9SCM + Kingston Stick = Can't Boot

Featured Replies

I am able to log into bios, but no matter what config combinations I try, I can not boot from my flash drive.

"Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key"

I have tried booting from the USB on the motherboard directly.

Here are my pertinent settings as best I can copy them:

I changed Intel VT-d: Enabled

SATA Mode is ACHI

Serial Ports are Disabled

Boot Option 1 is Kingston Data Traveller

Boot Option 2 is UEFI: Kingston Data Traveller

All other Boot options are Disabled

USB Device BBS Priorities are set to Boot Option 1: Kingston Data Traveller

USB Functions: Enabled

Legacy USB Support: Auto

BIOS ECHI Hand Off: Enabled

Port 60/64 Emulation Disabled

Help would be greatly appreciated

In preparing your flash drive, did you right-Click on 'make_bootable.bat' file and select Run as administrator?

I have a Mac.  I followed lime-tech's instructions to a "t".

You are going to have to wait for someone to pop in who has a Supermicro MBD-X9SCM-F-O motherboard or search in the 'Motherboards' and 'Hardware' sections for problems booting with this MB.

What file system format did you choose for step 1?

Verifying volume “UNRAID”

Checking file system** /dev/disk8s1

** Phase 1 - Preparing FAT

** Phase 2 - Checking Directories

** Phase 3 - Checking for Orphan Clusters

105 files, 7772048 KiB free (1943012 clusters)

I would find a Windows PC and try making the USB stick again.  It doesn't appear to be bootable to the X9SCM.  I had no problems booting from USB stick when I had my X9SCM operational.  On Windows I formatted the USB as FAT32 but since I don't do Macs I can't tell you if you formatted it correctly or not.

Solved.  The flash drive will not boot if configured via Mac.  I ran Windoze 7 as an emulator and followed the instructions provided.  Booted first try.

Thanks all for your input.
