Upgrading Server

Featured Replies

I recently acquired a better motherboard and CPU combo, and I want to replace it with the setup currently in my server.  Is it possible to do so without destroying my array and all the data on it?

sure, just did so a few days ago, myself...

i would make a screenshot of the current disk-config (which disk is in which slot in unraid config). also disable auto start of the array, so you can check everything in the webgui first.

are you on unraid5 or 4.7? (not exactly sure about 4,7, but should work exactly like that. i believe, in 4.7 you would have to set up the disk config again (using the screenshot made earlier).)

I'm using 5.0-RC4

then it should simply work, as described.

just make sure, to make a screenshot of your current info (in case, unraid doesn't recognize your disk config correctly after the upgrade).

if you have any plugins installed, i would disable them too (or move the plg-files to an other folder, so they don't install at all). just to make sure, unraid itself works fine after the upgrade...

i'd also update to the latest version (rc8a), since you are doing some maintainance to your server, why not do an software update too...

Do a parity check before and after the rebuild.
