SABnzbd - Quick Question

Featured Replies

This may be a fairly easy question for most, but I'm still very new to much of this.  I've had an unRAID server for some time.  I recently installed unMENU and within unMENU saw that I could install SABnzbd.  I was able to install it just fine and have had it up and running for a few months now without any issues.  From unMENU it simply installs it on the Flash drive.

However, I had a power surge last night.  The unRAID server rebooted and is doing a parity check now (everything looks fine).  I was able to start up unMENU again via telnet, but I'm not exactly sure how to start up SABnzbd again.  Do I really need to reinstall it via unMENU?  I don't really want to lose all the settings I put in place before if that is possible.  I see a path on the FLASH:  \flash\packages\SABnzbd-0.7.4\sabnzbd.  There are a lot of python files there.  I'm just not sure how to execute it.  I know, pretty sad, but as I said I'm still learning here.  Thanks for any help.

I have installed SABnzdb manually and not through unMenu. To check wether it's running or not, I go to http://tower:80, go to the tab "Settings". Here at the bottom I have a logo for SABnzbd and when I click on it, I see whether it's running or not. There I can click on "RUNNING" and it takes me to the webinterface, which is normally reachable by browsing to http://tower:8081

In unMENU, you have to set it to re-install on reboot and it should have started again.

The commands are in the wiki if you search for python servers. Something like python sabnzb.py --daemon works.

On another note. It's a VERY VERY bad idea to install it to the usb stick. You will quickly kill it.

Yea, I could've sworn that I chose that setting in unmenu for both but for whatever reason it didn't happen. That is a good point about the flash drive. I'm a little concerned that maybe the flakiness I'm seeing with the server right now might be attributed to the flash drive. I rebooted last night and did a parity check and everything works fine, however, now I can't see the server on the network and it does seem to still have power. I'll probably just replace the flash drive for good measure.  Does it make sense to upgrade to 5.0 now?

You might want to consider using the plugins instead of the unmenu install.

Easier to install and maintain. Look here.

Thanks. Plugins require unRAID 5.0... correct?

Correct! 5.0 RC8a is very stable for me FWIW but you will want to update the Samba on it to avoid permissions issues. Hopefully Tom pushes one out with this done soon but it's not hard to do yourself IMO.

I am ru;nning 5.0 RC8a and I never upgraded samba. No issues here. If I wanted to upgrade samba, how?

Check the tail end of the announcements thread. I ran into all sorts of issues with being unable to access files or delete files and upgrading SAMBA solved it. On my previous two servers migrated from 4.x I never had these issues so it was really weird that I ran into them so quickly on a new server. <shrug>
