Antec 1200 v3 SSD Mounting

Featured Replies

I have an Antec 1200 I have added a 4th 3 drive cage too.  12 slots total.

Currently I have 10 storage drives plus parity and a warm spare so every slot is full.

One of my storage drives is a 32GB SSD, which really does not need a fan cooled 3.5" slot.  I would like to free up that slot, just to push off the need for adding 3x5 cages for a while.  Based on current usage and expansion, this could get me a year or two in the future before needing to go that way.  Who knows by then maybe I will be replacing 2 TB drives with 4 TB or more.

Does anyone have any other clever mounting ideas for a SSD in an Antec 1200 case?  (IE outside of the 12 normal bays)

Two-sided tape and velcro. Anywhere you like.

Rafters, IO slot adapters or velcro.. I have used all of those...

I just leave mine laying on the bottom of the case...

I use the ghetto method for mounting my two 2.5 inch drives: sitting flat on the bottom of the case.

I am going to need to come up with a better solution in the future once cache pooling that was announced today is available. I plan on putting three 2.5 inch drives in a btrfs pool which will leave me with a total of four 2.5 inch drives in the case. In which case I may go for one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817994142

If its the Antec 1200 V3(as your title suggests) underneath the 5.25 drive bays at the bottom of the case are 4 holes, the case should have came with 4 rubber spaces that push through those holes and 4 longish screws. Its made to mount a SSD specifically. I just built a PC for a friend using this case and installed his SSD in that location. Using some nylon washers bought at any hardware store you could replace the spacers, should be able to get a few shorter screws for it as well.
