[SOLVED] unMENU Help

Featured Replies

Just upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0-rc11. Looking for screen in unMENU; don't see it.

I'm on 1.2 unMENU. Do I need an upgrade? How please. Thanks

OK...sorry:

How do I unzip to /boot/unmenu?

You do that before cd /boot/unmenu>unmenu_install -u (because it says...then copy the "unmenu_install" file you downloaded and unzipped to that directory. From your PC's file explorer, you can copy the file to \\tower\flash\unmenu  ??? ???

Then, download the attachments to this post from here and un-zip to /boot/unmenu

The downloaded zip file will contain one file it is named "unmenu_install"  That one file contains a script that can install and update unmenu on your server.

Then, if updating an existing unmenu installation type

cd /boot/unmenu

unmenu_install -u

If you do not have an existing unMENU installed, and are installing it in a new empty directory type:

mkdir /boot/unmenu

to create the new directory

Then copy the "unmenu_install" file you downloaded and unzipped to that directory.

From your PC's file explorer, you can copy the file to

\\tower\flash\unmenu

Then, log in as "root" and type:

cd /boot/unmenu

unmenu_install -i -d /boot/unmenu

Run as before with

cd /boot/unmenu

./uu

If you are currently running unmenu, you'll need to kill it and re-start it to have it read in the new files.

Just unzip on your PC and copy the file to /boot/unmenu.

If you have your flash drive shared you should be able to access that folder from your PC at \\tower\flash\unmenu. (if you have named your unRAID server something other than "tower" substitute that instead)

Then from telnet

cd /boot/unmenu
unmenu_install -u

I'm sorry; you've been a great help...and I'm sure I'm very close. But I have \\myserver\flash\unmenu up...and I don't see "boot".

If you go in via the share then it is called 'flash'.

If you are in a telnet session, then the flash drive is mounted as /boot.

Therefore which of these you use depends on the context.

OK; so just put the new unmenu_install file in here; and then run the same cd /boot/unmenu>unmenu_install -u command?

OK...I actually put the new unmenu_install file in flash(boot)/unmenu; and ran cd /boot/unmenu>unmenu_install -u

Seems to have worked; I have an "old" unmenu dir, and LOTS more files in unmenu than before. But when I launch :8080, I still get 1.2

If you are currently running unmenu, you'll need to kill it and re-start it to have it read in the new files.

Is this my issue? I feel like a bit of an idiot at this point; but how do I "kill" the old unmenu?

^^^ OK, let me guess; You guys give me a minute...and let me figure it out for myself?  :-[

OK; I found the kill unmenu and restart unmenu...in 1.2s user scripts. But then I couldn't get back to :8080. I did a cd /boot/unmenu/uu, and it looks like I'm on 1.5 now!

Thanks to itimpi for that whole boot=flash thing; that was invaluable. Now I have to do the pre-clears, parity-swap, etc (http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=25607.0)...but that's another topic.

Thanks everyone!
