jdubs
Hey Guys I'm using 5.0-rc12a and FlashFXP as my FTP client. Trying to connect, I input the following into FlashFXP: -IP address for TOWER -Connection type = FTP -User name = "root" -password = blank -port = 21 I get the following error in FlashFXP: "500 OOPS: cannot read user list file:/boot/config/vsftpd.user_list" Any idea how I can fix this and successfully connect via FTP to my UnRaid server? Thanks! Jim Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
Did you enter a list of permitted ftp users? root is not a good choice. Make a user called "admin" and enter it as a permitted ftp user. Quote Link to comment

jdubs
Here's the stock vsftpd.conf file: connect from port_20=YES write_enable=YES local_root=/mnt local_umask=0 anonymous_enable=NO local_enable=YES userlist_enable=YES userlist_deny=NO userlist_file=/boot/config/vsftpd.user_list check_shell=NO syslog_enable=YES log_ftp_protocol=NO xferlog_enable=NO dirmessage_enable=NO ls_recurse_enable=YES Also, the vsftpd.user_list file is blank. Do I just put "admin" as the first line and save the file? Thanks again, Jim Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
There is no need to edit any file. Use the unRAID GUI. Quote Link to comment
jdubs
Thanks. You can specify the ftp user, but what's the password? -Jim Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
The password for what? Quote Link to comment
jdubs
Sorry, the password for using an FTP program. When I use FlashFXP and login with a blank password, I get the following dialog: "Connecting to 192.168.1.12 -> IP=192.168.1.12 PORT=21 Connected to 192.168.1.12 220 (vsFTPd 2.2.2) USER admin 331 Please specify the password. PASS (hidden) 530 Login incorrect." -Jim Quote Link to comment

bryanmaree
If anyone else is expeiencing this, Use the GUI and go to 'settings' then click 'ftp server', make sure it is enabled and add your user to the users list. Comma seperated. Quote Link to comment
trurl
This thread you have replied to is more than 7 years old and for Unraid versions older than V6. It is generally not recommended to enable the built in FTP. You certainly shouldn't expose it to the internet Quote Link to comment
