Does anyone have this kind of setup? i have a 4 bay drive. plenty of power on the PSU 650W. 2 rails

 

I can start a preclear session using screen, then check back in an hour or so and still running. leave it alone for a long time and then the system is unresponsive. I cannot telnet to it or open the web interface but it still pings.

 

ran a memtest for 5 days it passed. ran a cpu stress test for 4 days it passed.

 

the only way to get it back up is to reboot it.

 

any ideas would be helpfull.

 

system is gigabyte GA-A75-D3H, AMD A8 3870k, 8GB of mem, drives are 2 2TB WD enterprise store, 1 2TB toshiba and 1 750 WD black drive. 

 

 

I have four 5in3 and they have both molex 3 and satapower 2. I exclusivly use single rail power supplies but i Plug in at least 1 molex plus both satapower. Some times if i only had sata power i would get weard results during extensive running like preclearing.

How many drives are you preclearing at the single time?  What version of unRAID are you running.  Are you running any plugins?  Are you using any type of plug-in drive enclosure?

1. First try 4, failed, second try 3, failed, third try, 1, failed. (i did use the -r -w -b -A options)

3. Unmenu, sickbeard: just installed plg nothing configured, same for sabnzbd and couch potato.

1)  Uninstall all plugins except for unmenu.  (I know you say you are not using them, but they are running.)

2)  Connect a monitor and keyboard to the server. Start one disk doing a preclear using the instructions in first post in this thread:

Have a digital camera available and take a picture of the monitor screen after the system locks up.

I've got 2 IstarUSA 4-tray type cages and they work just fine. I think I used 2 power cables with multiple SATA plugs and plugged each cable into both cages.

 

At this point, try without the cage. It might be your SATA cables. Use locking ones only.

I did use lock type style, i think i have a bigger issue. So i skipped the pre-clear, I added 3 disk no cache. parity drive got created just fine, other drives formated just fine.

 

i left it alone for 16 hours, i tried to telnet to it, no go, it will not disconnect but it will never show me the prompt (tera term and putty). Tried to get to the web interface, it would try to open but never show the main screen. I force a reboot and then check the logs and it shows an unclean shutdown but nothing more. The weird thing is when its unresponsive to telnet or web interface the machine still pings.

From UnMenu Pkg Manager install are the following

bwm-ng - Bandwidth Monitor NG (Next Generation), a live bandwidth monitor

DS_Store and ._ file cleanup script ( set to reinstall on reboot)

I do no have python installed yet, i guess i will need to have sickbeard proccess shows.

 

I have started a ping session and i will leave it alone to see if i drop any packets.

 

 

EDIT: That didn't last very long (few minutes after posted) i was trying to get a copy of the system log and then it happened stopped responding. it was doing a parity check but that should not kill it. I am going to format the USB drive put a fresh copy of of unraid and this time leave out SB, SAB, Couch, plex and plex updater as someone suggested.
