ATX PSU w/ ~12 4-pin Molex?

Featured Replies

Howdy all!

Looking to change computer cases, and the case I have in mind has a backplane that needs 12 4-pin molex plugs connected into it. No SATA plugs will be needed.

In the interest of not having to use splitters, which I'm not a huge fan of, does anyone know of any particular models of PSUs that have 12+ molex plugs?

I've been scouring Newegg, but with no search function to tighten the search, it's a pain in the butt :D

Thanks for any advice!

I don't think you can avoid splitters for this.  Do you mind my asking what are the objections to them?

From what someone posted a while ago, you can get replacement cables and purchase additional modular cables using them instead of the sata ones.

There are also adapters that make the SATA power connectors work like modulars.

Such an objection to the judicious use of splitters is simply irrational.  There is nothing wrong with using them, as long as you are not exceeding the current ratings.  Splitting a single molex on the PSU to 4 typical hard drives is fine.

If you found this magic PSU with 12 moles connectors, their leads would all be soldered together to the same buss inside the PSU.

It's primarily an cleanliness issue. I've long since given up trying to keep my cases attractive looking, but the splitters never seem to help. Not a technical issue at all.

If they don't exist, so be it :D

Thanks!

I don't know what the fuss is about "cable clutter" ... my machine room looks fine.

Ive seen some bad cabling in my time but that takes the prize :)

I color code mine, it make it much easier when I try to find the other end... ;)
