tboggie
Hi All, I have an unRAID box which is filled, currently running 11 drives, 3TBs. I would like to add more drives without upgrading the current drives to 4tbs. I have four 2tbs which i can add Is there a way to connect an external box to this server and have it all running together or should i get a bigger case? I also plan to upgrade the PSU as i am already pushing it's limit Here is a pic of the server, as you can see there is no space to add more drives MB - Asus M5A78L-M LX V2 CPU - AMD Sempron 145 OEM Processor RAM- Patriot Signature 4GB DDR3 Link to comment
garycase
This will work well for 4 drives if you have a port-multiplier compatible eSATA connection: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817198047 Link to comment
garycase
... note that it also wouldn't require changing your power supply, since the drives are powered by the PSU in the external case (this will be true for just about any such case). Link to comment

MB has no esata connection. Can i add this card to my server and connect to the icy dock via esata cable http://uk.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/HDD-Controllers/SATA-Cards/2-Port-SATA-6-Gbps-PCI-Express-eSATA-Controller-Card~PEXESAT32 Link to comment
