igboo
Is it possible to move the drive array to a new motherboard? My current system is running 4.7 and is spread out into several external enclosures. Before I do the upgrade to 5.0, I'd like to consolidate all of the drives into one enclosure with a new motherboard. What steps are involved to ensure my data remains intact? Thanks edit: After finding a search term that came back with some useful information, I see that it should be doable. I would just need to capture a screenshot showing the current assignment of all the drives and make sure that each drive is reassigned to it's original slot. What order would probably be best? Do the move to new motherboard first, or do the 5.0 upgrade first? Link to comment
mr-hexen
Upgrade to v5 first. 5 a signs drives by serial number so the screen shot isn't even needed to perform the change. Link to comment
garycase
I'd upgrade to v5.0 first => then the move to new hardware is trivial, as v5 ID's all the disk assignments by the drive serial number, so you don't have to do the assignments ... just move them all to the new hardware and boot.
