January 29, 201412 yr Rather than installing UnRaid and using unmenu to get the USB GUID, can I use Windows to do this by going to Device Manager, Device Properties, and choosing Device Class GUID? Would this give me the correct information? I'm asking since I've got only one server, and I need to move and upgrade my current UnRaid Flash Pro license to another flash since it appears to be failing. I also bought a second license for current UnRaid owners for $30 dollars. Or do I have to install the Basic software and get the GUID that way?
January 29, 201412 yr Installing UnRAID on the new USB Flash stick and getting the GUID from the UnRAID web management page is always the preferred way. You can use your existing server for this without affecting your current configuration/flash device. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=31474.msg285218#msg285218
January 29, 201412 yr GFOViedo, Your method works in theory. I tried it without success. Turns out Properties has multiple very long numeric strings which *could* be the flash GUID. I emailed the wrong one to Lime-Tech, paid my money and got back a code that turned out not to work. The number I sent in was the wrong number for the flash. I found the correct one for the flash when I fired up unRAID and it would only support 2 data drives. The GUID in the unRAID interface differed from what I found in Windows properties. :'(
January 29, 201412 yr If you use unRAID to read the GUID you can be sure that the same algorithms are used to obtain it as will be used for checking when you have obtained the license key from Lime Technology. Any other method carries the risk that the GUID reported may not be the same.
January 29, 201412 yr Just boot it on your Windows PC, then access the Web GUI from any other device (laptop, iPad, etc.) and get it that way. As long as you don't assign any drives, it's not going to "do" anything to whatever system you boot it on. Of course, that's equally true of your current UnRAID server -- you could just boot to the new flash drive instead of the one you're using now. If the flash drive is easily accessible, that's probably the simplest way to do it.
January 29, 201412 yr Author Thank you guys. I was just worried that doing this would affect my data.
January 29, 201412 yr Thank you guys. I was just worried that doing this would affect my data. I already did this with my existing server. If you start with the completely clean install with none of your config files it won't start the array.

I've got to go to work so I'll do the second GUID when I get off work. One more question, can I just add my config folder and addons to the new clean install so I can have all of my info back?
January 29, 201412 yr One more question, can I just add my config folder and addons to the new clean install so I can have all of my info back? Sure. Basically you can simply clone your old flash drive and replace the key with the new one tied to the new unit.
January 29, 201412 yr If you are planning to use the new flash to try unRAID 64-bit like I am then be aware that your 32-bit addons will NOT work and must not be used.
