Well after deciding that a memory upgrade for DDR2 was too costly I convinced myself (and my wife) that it was time for a new server :)

 

 

Newly Purchased

 

Case: Lian-Li PC Q-25    $99.98

Motherboard: ASUS 87I-PLUS mini-itx  $107.99

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670 3.4 Ghz Quad core    $239.00

RAM: 16 GB (2x8GB) Kingston Hyper-X Red DDR3 1600 Mhz CL10  $150.88

Power Supply: Silverstone SS-ST45SF SFF power supply  $74.99

 

Total= $760.19

(All prices are Canadian)

 

Existing Parts from old build:

 

Parity: Western Digital 2TB RED WDC_WD20EFRX

Data Drive 1: 500 GB Western Digital Green WDC_WD5000AADS

Data Drive 2: 1TB Western Digital Green WDC_WD10EARS

Data Drive 3: 1TB Western Digital Green WDC_WD10EARX

Cache Drive/VM: 64 GB OCZ Vertex 4 OCZ-VERTEX4_OCZ

Flash Drive: 8GB SanDisk Cruzer USB

 

 

I would attach photos but it looks like every other Lian-Li PC Q-25 build :)

Nice setup.    Somehow I think you snookered your wife if you convinced her you were doing this just because DDR2 is more costly than DDR3  :)

[it's certainly true, but $700 instead of $200 ??  8) ]

 

... However, I'm sure this is a MUCH nicer system.
