No Web GUI (Solved)

Featured Replies

Guys I need help setting up unRAID, at the moment I can't log onto the web gui and I have tried everything. I have a supermico X9SCM-iF motherboard, the IPMI BMC is set as static, I have setup a static IP reservation in my Billion 7800n router using an IP address and the hardware mac from the LAN 1 not the BMC/IPMI IP. I have added the network.cfg using textedit on the mac to include DHCP=no and my static IP address the network and the gateway of my router, I have even tried adding the mac hardware address to the file. Im trying to log on to the web guy with my macbook pro wirelessly its running mavericks. I have tried safari and firefox, I have entered //tower the ip address and everything still no luck, could it be that my mac has to be wired into the network and not running wirelessly on the same network? Im running out of options. if I enter ifconfig eth0 on my kvm it returns the correct IP and gateway but returns the LAN2 hardware address not the LAN1 address as listed in the super micro system page. I have checked the super micro motherboard sheet and it is showing I have it plugged into LAN1 port not LAN2. But even if I change the mac hardware address to reflect LAN2 port I still can't connect to the Web gui. Do I need 2 cables for unraid as I have only ever used 1 before, i.e. one of the IPMI and one for unRAID.

Try switching the cable to the other LAN port on the motherboard.

Bingo, problem solved, thanks for the suggestion. So I wonder if I should change the mac address in the router or maybe a reboot, The only problem is there are do different types of intel LAN ports on this motherboard and one of the LAN ports people had issues with. Its currently plugged into the one on the right when looking at the rear of the server, I remember Johnm helped me loads on this build.

It looks like its confirmed my suspicions that my Adaptec 71605h HBA isn't supported by unRAID.

Try switching the cable to the other LAN port on the motherboard.

What I need is some help here. How are you guys connecting your Supermicro Motherboard LAN ports, Do you run one cable from the IPMI port and one from LAN1 or one cable on the LAN2 port and one on LAN1. I was hoping to run one cable but it looks like I can't do this in which case I would run one to the IPMI port and one to either LAN1 or LAN2, which port is better as I know this motherboard has two different intel NIC's and users have had problems with one of these. or will unRAID only run on LAN2 with the IPMI on the dedicated LAN port or LAN1.

I use one cable for IPMI, one cable for LAN1 and one cable for LAN2. This is probably a little overkill though. I don't think I've ever used the LAN2 port. And honestly I seldom use the IPMI port, but I don't have any other needs for that cable so I leave it connected. Unless you have a shortage of ports on your Ethernet switch I don't really see any reason why you shouldn't use all the ports.
