[SOLVED] Unmenu issue with SSMTP and UPS APC w/ Apple?

Recommended Posts

So after messing around with unmenu and DHCP and all that, I finally got it to work and unmenu is updated.  I'm running unmenu.awk: Version 1.6 Revision: 278  Joe L.... with modifications as suggested by bjp999, mvdzwaan, and many others

One slight issue with unmenu is it always wants to go to "servername:8080" instead of IPADDY which is minimal I think.  Anyways.  I installed screen and Unmenu, screen and SSMTP according to the directions on the wiki.  Now my issue is I go back in after letting it run all night and it says that screen isn't installed.  Now this is the syslog for the ssmtp -

What am I doing wrong?

Also - am attempting to install an APC backups 750...Which of the 3 APCS should I use, especially if my computer is a Mac?  This sounds stupid but I have to have it set up to a computer for it to work?

Sorry for being an idiot - *bows*

Okay, for the SMTP settings you definitely have an error in your config.

Under UnMENU Pkg Manager if you look at the SMTP settings you see:

2hhorh5.jpg

It looks like you have more fields as you full email address vs the email server. As you can see in the default settings, email server should be smtp.gmail.com:587 for you. It looks like you have your full email address in this field which is confusing the email server.

For UPS, you don't need to attach it to your computer. If you use the APC UPS it should have come with a USB cable. Plug that into your UnRAID server, installed the APC Daemon and it should see the device and configure itself accordingly.

Ok so it's not reloading my packages automatically...What's up with that?  Also changed it to

Must issue a STARTTTLS command first.  what is that?

TLS is an encryption mechanism to ensure a secure connection between you and your email server (or between email servers) so that the messages are not sent in clear text.

Are you getting a message that you must issue a STARTTLS command first? If so, you current have UseSTARTTLS="FALSE". Just set it to true.

In the UnMENU packages after you've installed them there is a button you need to hit to automatically restart it after reboot. Check each of the packages you've installed and make sure that is set.

So I got it to work.  Shut it down, installed the backups and re-power on.  And again it says that the packages that I've installed are not installed.

This is a screen shot.  Is this a result of unmenu looking for it as "Skynet" and if I could just change the config of unmenu to look under the address would it work properly?

Also - which APCSUSUCD should I use?

Okay, just to clarify. When you are on the page you gave a screenshot of, and if you click on a package like ssmtp you should be able to click on install, and then you should see an option to enable on reboot.

Have you done this? I am travelling so don't have UnRAID in front of me to verify settings.

As for APCUPSD I *think* this will get you to the latest version:

http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=15583.msg311788#msg311788

The last post has a link in his signature to 3.14.12 which I think is the most recent.

yes it says will re-install on re-boot.  I re-boot.  Unmenu lies and doesn't re-install.

My thinking is it's looking on address = mytower = Skynet when to get to unmenu you have to use the IPaddress.  Can I just change the setting on this part of the unmenu.conf

# Unmenu will discover for itself your host name, but if you wish to set it yourself, or

# your host name is not set, then set the value of MyHost here.

#MyHost = MyTower

and change it to

MyHost = 192.168.1.181?

or am I way off base...

I don't think it's the IP address of your server having issues. I am assuming UnMENU starts successfully on a reboot, and you can access the GUI, correct? If so, I don't think that variable you found matters (I could be wrong, but I don't think it does).

If you connect to your USB key's flash share \\tower\flash

In the config folder there should be a go file.

Mine contains the following:

# Start the Management Utility
/usr/local/sbin/emhttp &
/boot/unmenu/uu

cd /boot/packages && find . -name '*.auto_install' -type f -print | sort | xargs -n1 sh -c

So, it's starting emttp, and then starting UnMENU (uu), and then runs anything in /boot/packages that is supposed to autoinstall.

I would check your go file to make sure it contains these entries, and I would also connect via Putty and look at /boot/packages and make sure the permissions are correct (mine are 777). If you are not sure, from the boot folder you can type 'chmod 777 packages'

Then reboot and see what happens.

Yup....It seems to have.  Is it possible to have more than one package installed that do the same thing?

Sure, theoretically. You could have multiple FTP servers, or torrent downloaders, but from an UnMENU perspective there is only one version of each.

You'd likely need to clarify the question with some specifics.
