USB EDC have a unique GUID

Featured Replies

Do any unRAID users know if this Innodisk USB EDC has a unique GUID. It has a massive amount of writes when compared to a standard USB stick and is used mainly in EPOS systems but will fit internally in a Intel server motherboard.

I can't find any information about it and have emailed the company but I though someone on the forums may have already tried it.

I woudlnt bother with the effort. I would buy a USB adaptor that allows you to swap the memory essentially giving you infinite number of writes

I actually have a few Kingston mobilite G2's that I use but the ECC USB's give over 100'000 writes compared to an average of 5000 on a standard USB key, and I have my 4 plugins on the flag card as I don't need a cache drive. I just thought as I'm building a new server it may be easier than having to worry about losing my flash card data although the config directory is backed up on the other flash card.

Where do you get them?

I did a quick search and did not see them readily available.

From my perspective, a card reader and SD card would give me a better backup plan then trying to search for another USB EDC key.

If I really had to write that much, I might use the card reader SD card for the unRAID license and the USB EDC for the plugins.

I should add, if your sd card is large enough, you may not really have to worry about limited writes.

on a 2gb card It lasted me a year with allot of writes. 32gb card. I have not worn it out yet.

Do you mean the Mobilite G2 or the Innodisk USB EDC key?

I have two 8GB cards, maybe a 32GB card would suit me better, on my new system it has room for a USB key and a USB EDC key so maybe putting the plugins on the EDC key would be a good idea, although I can't find any information about how to put plugins on another drive and just use the USB key for unRAID.

I couldn't tell you in the USA but over here in the UK I get them from a PC company although a search on google showed this link.

Actually while were talking WeeboTech would you have a look at this post if you get time please as I understand you were the original developer of power down.
