August 27, 201411 yr That's certainly possible ... but I think it's unlikely. That would mean that the parity calculation is not a true parity of all of the other disks. Although there may be a few sectors that are treated specially (i.e. those that are used for the special flag that is used by pre-clear). In any event, I know for a fact that the following will work just fine ... (a) Build yourself a Basic UnRAID setup with a spare flash drive. (b) Install 2 identical size drives, assigning one as the only data drive; the other as parity. © Copy some data to the array. (d) Shut down the array; re-initialize the flash drive (so you KNOW there is no residual info on it) You can also just do a "New Config" ... but if you're really skeptical, you should start with a "clean" install of UnRAID on the drive. (e) Boot to the flash drive; and now assign the 2nd drive (the one that was parity) as the only data drive. (f) Start the array -- and browse the drive ... it will be exactly what you copied to the array in Step ©
