My disk1 keeps on getting filled, eventhough I'm set to Highwater

Featured Replies

Hello all, My setup is the following:

Cache drive of 160 GB

2 TB Parity

2 TB Disk1

2 TB Disk2

2 TB Disk3

Media shares- set to highwater, with minimum free space set to 10 GB, split level 2, included disks (All), use cache disk (yes).

mysql- highwater, minimum free space of 300 MB, split level not set, included disks all, use cache, no

Since my previous split level is wrong, I put all movies under a folder in cache, and allow CP renamer to search for Movies there, before going to final destination, Media/Movies/HDMovies/Moviename

I have 20 GB or so left in disk 1, 118 GB in disk 2 and 177 GB in disk 3.  But whenever the movies in my cache moves to disks, it puts all movies to disk 1, filling up my disk 1, to the point that my XBMC won't even run since 0 MB left. XBMC needs mysql.

Any ideas which seems to be the problem?

You say you are trying to use a path of Media/Movies/HDMovies/Moviename?  With a split level of 2 only the first two pars 'Media' and 'Movies' can be replicated across drives.  The HDMovies folder and its contents will be constrained to the disk where it is first created.

Hello itimpi,

I went back to check other documentations, and you are right.  So this may be the reason why it keeps on filling up, since it has the folder on it.

My question next is, if I change split level now, will it start to create the HDMovies folder across different drives, and start to populate it, as in my Highwater setting preference?

itimpi is right.  Have a look at this.  http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual#Split_level

So your "media" users share is level 1

Movies is level 2

and HDMovies is level 3, so HDMovies Folder must remain on a single disk.

Split level 3 would probably work better.  It will allow the movies to be split across disks, and for your TV shows it will keep the seasons on 1 disk.

Lacehim,

It's exactly the setup I'm going for.  Sadly, I got it wrong before.  In my TV, I have Media/TV/Showname/Seasons.  I want to have each season on a single disk.

Hope someone can clarify if changing split level now will immediately impact how it fills up my free drives immediately.

Changing split level applies to all new Folders/file going forward from the point at which you change it.  If you already have files on the cache disk then mover should start using the new setting when attempting to move files to the data disks.

One point to note is that if any files already exist (perhaps due to a failed copy) then they are not treated as new files and are updated in place.  This can sometimes be an issue if you are expecting the files to go to a different disk.

Also note that split level is ignored when reading files so there is no need to move files around to satisfy the new split level setting.  In fact if you want this you have to do it manually.

Anything up to Level 3 will keep the seasons together under showname.  If you go level 4, it will put seasons on different disks.
