January 4, 201511 yr In relation to problems I'm encountering recently, such as every reboot, it takes a long time for unraid to come back up since it downloads each plugin all over again (have them installed at /usr/...), where is the best place to install plugins? I think I read somewhere cache drive is best? I want to achieve the unraid share to be available immediately after restart. I also have my config files saved in a hiddel folder in the cache drive. But as of the moment, I have /usr...
January 4, 201511 yr As I only use cache dirs, APCUPSD and Dynamix I have mine installed on my USB Flash drive. As I only boot my system every 6 months it doesn't bother me. From what I understand the plugin files are downloaded and checked each time a reboot is done, not re-downloaded.
January 4, 201511 yr It is worth pointing out the unRAID OS is RAM based and therefore the contents of /usr/ do not persist across reboots. You therefore need to keep files that need to persist across reboots on the USB drive. If necessary you then need appropriate lines in the 'go' file to copy tem into position every time unRAID is booted. Most plugins will store files on the USB drive and do the copying themselves so whether you need to take special action is dependent on how the plugin is implemented.
January 6, 201511 yr Author megalodon, itimpi, thanks. I guess my plug-ins coming from PhAze's (since popular) would have it saved in usb, and retrieved during bootup.
