January 6, 201511 yr Hello.. I just removed a disk from my array, and everything is green. however, when running a parity check i see a lot of corrected errors. is this just because there's a disk missing or is there something more sinister going on? here's what i did. 1. stop the array. 2. press new config. 3. assigned all disk except the one i need to remove. 4. start the array.
January 6, 201511 yr Since you did a new config you should have had no valid parity and it would need calculating from scratch so the fact that you removed a disk from the array is not relevant. After calculating the initial parity then subsequent parity checks should ideally succeed with no errors. If as part of going through the New Config option you ticked the 'parity is valid' option then the first parity check would indeed produce errors as parity is invalidated by doing a New Config and then changing the list of assigned disks.

Thanks, to be honest i don't remember if i clicked 'parity is valid' or not. i may have.. I will run the parity check and disregard the errors.. thanks.
January 7, 201511 yr Author Is it normal if parity check is running incredibly slow?.. i get only 9 mb/s where i normally would have around 90mb/s
January 7, 201511 yr Check your cables, probably disturbed a connection when you removed the drive. Or post a syslog.
