laevy Posted January 22, 2015 Share Posted January 22, 2015 Hello, I have a bunch of ISO files on my unraid server that I have been trying to get the m2ts file from. Once I mount them on my mac from my server, it takes close to 72h to transfer the m2ts file to my server. Why the heck does this take so long? Link to comment
Brucey7 Posted January 22, 2015 Share Posted January 22, 2015 If you copy the ISO file to your Mac before you mount it, and output the M2TS files onto another disk it will be much faster. When you mount an ISO file, you rarely copy it all into memory, so your Mac is loading the beginning of the ISO file, deciding where the data it wants is and then loading that part of the ISO (whilst releasing the index portion) and then back again. Your Mac is paging the server all the time, ideally, you want disks to run in sequential access/write mode Link to comment
