jonp
Took me a few minutes just to figure out what the heck this thing was exactly. Still not entirely sure I understand the reason they have combined cloning and computer management into a single offering. Seems like a weird combo to smash together, but I'll admit I'm still a bit in the dark about exactly what they do. The website certainly doesn't do much to explain it. Can you point me to any article or forum posts about this thing in greater detail so I can check it out? Link to comment
ijuarez
https://www.fogproject.org/ it a cloning program it creates images and saves them to storage for fututre deployments. i used it clone pc and if it goes belly up i can re-image the and put them back into service. its like windows restore. I repair computers and i like to make an image before and after and in case the client screws it up i can reimage and down time is minimal, Link to comment
garycase
I repair computers and i like to make an image before and after and in case the client screws it up i can reimage and down time is minimal, Always a good idea. I help a LOT of folks and I always image their systems when I've got them nicely "tweaked" and save the images on one of my servers ... for exactly the same reason => if their hard drive fails; they corrupt the system with an errant install, virus, or malware; or for any other reason it gets "hosed", I can restore it in virtually no time. And if I'm going to reload a system, I always image it BEFORE doing anything to it, so anything they forgot to backup can always be recovered. Link to comment

Exactly, i can have another computer be the server but i thought if i can achieve this using a docker it would be great and yes i understand that i can spin up a vm but a docker is much more smaller. johnodon
I started to play with Fog a few years ago...can't remember why I put it down. Hmmm...I wonder if this could actually be run as a Docker container. After all, it really just is a fancy PXE server. I may need to look into that. John EDIT: There are a few people out there trying to accomplish this in Docker. Here is one: https://registry.hub.docker.com/u/lspiehler/fogproject/ EDIT #2: submitted request in the Docker forum: https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=40858.msg386665;boardseen#new Link to comment
