July 28, 201510 yr Alright Guys, hoping someone will be willing to help a little. I am running the latest version of Unraid, and periodically the Web interface is becoming unreachable as it is right now. I have been testing two Docker programs (Crashplan and Plex), so there is a possibility they may be a contributing factor. One guess on my part is I am running out of memory. I have 2 GB installed on my machine - although the dashboard generally says I am utilizing 50-65% when I have looked. Unraid shares are still accessible, and I can log on via console (telnet). I am not a guru when it comes to reading the logs and identifying any potential problems, so I was hoping someone would be willing to take a look at the attached diagnostics file. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, John tower-diagnostics-20150727-2059.zip
July 28, 201510 yr Don't really see anything in the log. Did you collect the diagnostic by using the GUI while it was still accessible, or did you collect it using the command line? I would suspect not enough RAM also.
July 28, 201510 yr I also see this problem with running 2gb of ram. I disabled all docker containers and still run into it every 24 hours or so on 2gb even though the dashboard and htop says I am using 40-50%. At any rate, I just ordered all new hardware and upgrading the ram to 16gb so hopefully that fixes it for me.
July 28, 201510 yr If you are low on ram, use the swapfile plugin... not an ideal substitute for more ram, but can save you some headaches. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=25816.0
July 28, 201510 yr ps... If you cannot access the plugin to create the swapfile, create a swapfile via command line. Something like, but substitute proper unRAID paths... http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-add-a-swap-file-howto/ Only perform steps: 2, 4 Create it somewhere on an array drive and then launch it by: swapon /mnt/cache/.custom/swapfile

I would suspect not enough RAM also. I collected the diagnostic file using the command line. I think I have 2 old sticks of 512MB DDR2 which would get me to 3GB total memory. I may have to try that. I was a little leery of putting 2 additional sticks in the computer due to possible differences in speed, voltage, etc. Some people on the forums have also suggested not using 4 sticks of ram for higher stability. I will definitely run Memtest for an extended period of time to test. ps... If you cannot access the plugin to create the swapfile, create a swapfile via command line. Question: Assuming I did create a swapfile via command line (as the GUI is currently unreachable), would that help me regain connection to the GUI? Most places on the forum have stated the web gui cannot be restarted, right? However, a swapfile would help the system (web portion) from crashing in the first place if indeed I do have a memory use problem. Linux is definatley not my first or second language. Is there a command that could use to verify the dynamix web gui was unloaded due to an out of memory condition?
