raven42
I'm looking for some help trying to figure out a streaming issue with Kodi after upgrading my unRaid server to 6.0.1. After the upgrade, I end up with constant buffering issues anytime I attempt to play anything on Kodi. I've even tried streaming to Plex as well and I see a similar problem. The audio and video queues go to 0, then it buffers for a while and starts playing again, then a few seconds later the queues go back to 0 and starts buffering again. I've tried everything I can on the kodi side. I've tried doing CIFS, NFS, and SMB mounts and all behave the same way. I've added buffering with 100MB in the kodi advancedsettings.xml file, and that does nothing to address the issue. When just copying files from the unRaid server to my htpc an pull files down around 40MB a second. I've tried different network cables and nothing seems to help. I've tried both Kodi 14.2 and 15.0. Just to test, I loaded the backup of unRaid 5.0.5 back onto the server, and now I am able to stream just fine. It seems to be an issue only with this client. I've tested unRaid 6.0.1 streaming to other machines and they work fine. But for some reason, this particular combination is causing problems. Here is a brief snippet of what I see from the kodi log file (full link below). 20:07:10 T:4884 WARNING: DXVA - decoder problem of status 2 with 255 20:07:10 T:4600 DEBUG: ------ Window Deinit (MyVideoNav.xml) ------ 20:07:10 T:4600 DEBUG: ------ Window Init (VideoFullScreen.xml) ------ 20:07:10 T:4600 INFO: Loading skin file: VideoFullScreen.xml, load type: KEEP_IN_MEMORY 20:07:10 T:4600 DEBUG: ------ Window Deinit (VideoOverlay.xml) ------ 20:07:10 T:4600 ERROR: DXVA - failed executing m_process->VideoProcessBlt(target, &blt, &samp[0], count, NULL) at line 714 with error 80004005 20:07:10 T:4600 DEBUG: ------ Window Deinit (DialogBusy.xml) ------ 20:07:10 T:4884 WARNING: DXVA - decoder problem of status 2 with 255 20:07:11 T:3124 WARNING: Previous line repeats 2 times. 20:07:11 T:3124 DEBUG: CMMNotificationClient::OnPropertyValueChanged: Changed device property of {0.0.0.00000000}.{719a980a-ae17-465e-bfa0-5377d6402f48} is {9855c4cd-df8c-449c-a181-8191b68bd06c}#0 20:07:12 T:1824 DEBUG: CDVDClock::Discontinuity - CDVDPlayerAudio::HandleSyncError2 - was:1859326.465796, should be:1839268.525826, error:-20057.939970 20:07:13 T:4600 DEBUG: Keyboard: scancode: 0x18, sym: 0x006f, unicode: 0x006f, modifier: 0x0 20:07:13 T:4600 DEBUG: CApplication::OnKey: o (0xf04f) pressed, action is CodecInfo 20:07:14 T:1824 DEBUG: CDVDClock::Discontinuity - CDVDPlayerAudio::HandleSyncError2 - was:3849331.013124, should be:3833309.389146, error:-16021.623977 20:07:15 T:4884 DEBUG: CPullupCorrection: detected pattern of length 1: 40000.00, frameduration: 40000.000000 20:07:15 T:1824 WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(audio)::Get - asked for new data packet, with nothing available 20:07:16 T:4884 WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(video)::Get - asked for new data packet, with nothing available 20:07:16 T:1824 WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(audio)::Get - asked for new data packet, with nothing available 20:07:16 T:4884 WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(video)::Get - asked for new data packet, with nothing available 20:07:16 T:2652 DEBUG: CDVDPlayer::SetCaching - caching state 1 Kodi Log File Media Info Hardware Information: unRaid Server: Intel Celeron G530 2.4Ghz Dual-Core, 4GB ram, unRAID 6.0.1 HTPC: Intel i3 530 2.93Ghz Dual-Core, 4GB ram, AMD Radeon 5570, Win 7 SP1 x64, Kodi 14.2 / 15.0 Quote Link to comment
Helmonder
I have been troubleshooting video streaming issues also.. They appeared a few weeks ago.. I had not considered unraid a suspect but timing could fit.. Quote Link to comment
KentBrockman
I have also noticed this on my Openelec kodi box. My buffering is not nearly as bad as you are describing but definitely worse than on 5.6.1 Quote Link to comment
raven42
Update: I have my issues resolved. I have been in the process of upgrading components. One of which is my server chassis. I just got the last of the new hardware today and got everything setup and in the new chassis. With the new hardware for the server, everything is now running perfectly smoothly. So now I'm wondering if it had something to do with my old hardware. I was running a Celeron G530 with 4GB ram on an Asus P8H67-M PRO mobo. Perhaps the newer linux kernel, or something with the network drivers didn't like the older chipset. I did run wireshark with the old hardware and I was noticing a number of retransmits from the server. Nearest I could tell, the client seemed slow to send ACKs for some periods, then the server would send a retransmit. So no real explanation, but new server hardware fixed it for me.
