Version 5.0-rc15a to V6? [SOLVED]

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am using version 5.0-rc15a.

Can someone just confirm that I have this correct?

I can do a 'upgrade install'? Is this best? or should I be doing a clean install?

Is it advised to use the 6.01 Upgrade Plugin for V5? Will this work with my version?

I have these plugins.. Do I need to remove these before upgrading? if so how?

When I upgraded from 5.0 to 6.0 I started from scratch.  I took an image of the drive display making sure I knew which drive was parity.  I also then backed up the flash drive then formated it and setup everything from scratch.  Like you I do still use unMenu but I would use Dockers for any plugin that now has a docker equivalent.  V5 plugins do NOT work with V6 unless they are just a script (awk script for instance) for the most part because V5 is 32bit and V6 is 64bit.

Can I run the new permissions tool when the parity sync is still running?

I don't know the "party line" but if it were me I'd probably wait.  New permissions tool involves quite a lot of disk access as does the parity sync, I can't see either being helped by running simultaneously.

Does that mean you've successfully updated then? What do you think of V6?  :D

Shouldn't be necessary unless you know you have gotten some permissions messed up. It was required when going from 4.x to 5 but not for going from 5 to 6. I have never run new perms on 6.
