sunny786
Had a red ball next to disk 3 and swapped with new 3 TB hd after single pass pre- clear. Rebuild speed is extremely slow between 250Kb/s to 1.4 Mb/s and at this rate will take 165 000 minutes. Have not had drive failure for last 2 years and recall last rebuild took 2 -3 days. Currently on version 5.0.4 with 8 drives (including parity and cache) and keen to upgrade to v6 once rebuild is completed. Have replaced all data cables, disabled all plug-in, disabled cache drive, changed tunable values based on recommendations in other posts and reviewed numerous posts but cannot pinpoint root cause of slow rebuild speed. Syslog file is attached. Require assistance as have run out of options. Thanks in advance. syslog.txt Link to comment
sunny786
Managed to resolve speed issue as reviewed BIOS setting and SATA port mode for all ports was set to IDE which I changed to AHCI. Booted the Server and now getting consistent speeds between 22 - 25 MB/sec. Most likely power outage caused BIOS settings to be reset to IDE. Link to comment
trurl
...Most likely power outage caused BIOS settings to be reset to IDE. Is the BIOS clock showing the correct time? If BIOS is losing its settings without power then perhaps your CMOS battery needs to be replaced. Link to comment
