Adaptec 1430SA not compatible with Supermicro M35 backplane?

Recommended Posts

I own two original LimeTechnology tower (MD1500/LL and MD1510/LL) with original Supermicro M35B backplanes.

Now I bought two additional Adaptec 1430SA controllers for these machines. To make them 2TB aware I need to flash the latest BIOS "6.0-0 Build 2507". The README of this firmware says the following:

The Marvell chip on the 1430/1420SA is not compatible with the AMI I2C MG9071/9072 chip found on the Super Micro backplanes SMC SC825TQ, SMC M35TQ, and CSE-733TQ-645. Hence, the enclosure management process cannot be observed using ASM.

I didn't find the difference between these M35 backplanes. Some are called CSE-M35B, some are called SMC M35TQ.

Will these specific Adaptec controllers work with the original LimeTechnology towers (and their backplanes) that were sold around 2008?

Many thanks in advance.

[EDIT] Supermicros M35TQ models support a failure LED. The models used by LimeTechnology called M35T1 don't support that third LED. Adaptec 1430SA should work with the LimeTechnology builds.[/EDIT]
