February 5, 201610 yr Hi guys, I realised that on a drive I have folders that I cannot open. The message I am getting is for example "J:\My software is not accessible. The handle is invalid". If I try to delete them I get "Folder Access Denied. You'll need to provide administrator permission to delete this folder". I don't have this issue on other drives, I moved data from 4 drives which I am removing from the server, but I don't seem to be able to move those folders. The drive free space is analogue to the other drives which are now empty, which seems to indicate that there is not data in those folders. What happened here?
February 12, 201610 yr Community Expert You really need to provide a lot more information. First, how are you attempting to access this share--- SMB, NFS or APF? What operating system and computer program are you using to access the share from? You do realize the if the share is named "My software" you may have created a problem with the name itself. First, spaces are never a good idea! Use a hyphen or an underscore or, even, no space. Second, capital letters can cause issues as Linux considers capitalization in names and Windows ignores it. Thus "Share" and "share" are two different named resources under Linux and the same resource under Windows!
