JorgeB
Disk dropped offline during clearing, could be bad cables or bad disk, SMART report could help narrow it down. Quote Link to comment

itimpi
The problem is that unRAID no longer sees the drive What Windows utility used to test the drive? If the drive is not seen even after a reboot then it may well have really failed. In terms of testing a disk under Windows you want to go to the manufacturers site and use their test/diagnostic software. Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
SMART report would be enough for now, don't remember how to get them using Unmenu, if you don't see it do a short test and post results. Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
SMART looks fine, if you can change cables/backplane and retry adding it, if it fails again it's probably a bad disk. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Alternatively, you can preclear the new disk, this way the array will remain available and it better tests the disk. Quote Link to comment
