joefig44
Been running unRaid with 4 - 1.5TB (4.5GB space as one drive is used for Parity) Seagate internal desktop drives for a long time now and I'm running out of space. I have a spare 1TB external Western Digital USB drive (in an enclosure) that I'd like to plug into the chassis' USB ports to add disk space. If it does work, any instructions you could point me to for getting it up and going would help out. Additionally, I'd like to repurpose my existing parity drive to data usage (I figure the small number of files I need data protected I will store in Dropbox, as it's less than 500MB and my 40+GB of photos I can use Google+ for). Can I do this? Any instructions if so? Link to comment
BRiT
You can't make it be part of your array, (unraid does not support external drives for the array ) but you could use Unassigned Devices plugin to manage it. Link to comment
joefig44
So I could use it as expanded storage but it should wouldn't be protected via parity? Is that what this means? Link to comment
interwebtech
If it is outside of warranty, crack it open and use the bare drive. Then it can be added to the array. Link to comment
