March 18, 201610 yr So I am trying to preclear a couple of old drives to give to a buddy for his first UnRaid system. I plug one into my main system, go to preclear it, it takes me to the page where I normally start the preclear, except all I see are the eye logo and the red x, I click on either of them and nothing happens?? This has happened with two drives now that I know are formatted NFTS. Anyone have a clue what is going on? What exactly are we to do if we want to preclear a drive that already contains a file system like NTFS or HPFS, or was used on a MAC? It would be nice if there was a format feature there by default so we could format the drive before we preclear it. Sometimes a format feature shows up, but its often greyed out for me.

For one, I think this support query probably resides in the preclear plugin support thread: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=39985.0 For two, perhaps the Plugin does not show drives with a FS as available to preclear. I can't remember OR test at the moment (as I am on Holiday) but IF that IS the case you can format the drives using Unassigned Devices. First you need to turn on "destructive mode". Settings>Unassigned Devices>Destructive Mode (Check and Apply). Then go back to the Main tab and delete the partition on the disks. Expand the disk to see partition and click the x next to the partition. Then you will probably see the Format button is available too. Hopefully if the exisiting FS is an issue, then the deletion of the partition on the disks has solved this and you can just go to the Preclear Settings GUI or click the Preclear icon (which should now be available via the Unassigned Devices section of the GUI) next to the drive. Hope this helps. P.S. Remember to turn OFF destructive mode when you're done!
