razz
Hi Folks, I created several share: Movies, TV, Concerts etc. After copying files to those shares, now I've changed my mind and would like to reorganize and put Moves, TV, Concerts into a parent share called Media. I created the new share Media, but now how to I move the sub-shares/data into the parent folder? I could it with windows explorer, but that is quite slow. Is there a way to move the files locally with them having to traverse the network? Cheers, thanks for any tips. Link to comment
razz
Okay found something called Midnight express to move the files over. My question is would one move from disk or from shares? /mnt/user/TV --> /mnt/user/Media/TV/ or /mnt/disk1/TV --> /mnt/disk1/Media/TV/ If I'm using shares in unraid, should I move using the "user" folder? Don't want to introduce and system inconsistencies. Link to comment
roland
As a rule, never mix the two!! cp /mnt/user/movies /mnt/disk1/movies Unexpected things can happen. If you only have 1 disk it won't matter which option you use. If you have multiple disks using shares you might actually be moving data between disks. So if you are happy with the distribution accross the disks I would use the disk to disk option. Link to comment
