Backup app?

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm new to unraid (coming from QNAP).

I want to be able to do a NAS to NAS backup, whereas I have an automated copy of specified folders to another NAS across the LAN.

Is there an app for this?  (Docker or otherwise?)  I've been looking but have been unable to find.

I use crashplan for this, but you can also setup rsync.

Yeah, I don't want to back up to a cloud subscription service, but rather another NAS.

Can rsync be set up with a GUI interface in a docker app, or is the standard way to set it up as a bash script using cron for scheduling?

If both NAS can run crashplan you don't need the cloud subscription service, you can backup NAS to NAS. Granted, a rsync solution would make the files directly accessible on the other NAS without going through crashplan' software.

Now that's interesting.  I'll take a look.

I have an always on windows 10 vm running and I use syncback free http://www.2brightsparks.com/freeware/freeware-hub.html - daily for over 3 years - without a glitch. But it requires Windows. I like the configuration and options so for me it makes sense. If you don't want a windows VM running, I'm sure the other options here are great, and I'll be looking at them as well...

That is certainly an option.  Was going to set up a W2012R2 server to run SQL Server and maybe AD.  Might be an idea to just virtualize it on my unRAID box.  If I do then that makes perfect sense.
