using USB printer

Featured Replies

hey,

I got this USB printer that connected to my unraid server.

I found the printer using lsusb:

Bus 001 Device 005: ID 03f0:2b17 Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 1020

How do I share it locally, to be able printing from Windows 10?

Thanks.

I haven't seen an option to share a printer via the unraid server.  I would *love* to see this added though.

If you're running v6 you can create a vm, pass the printer through to it and share that way. I've done it with mine so anyone in the house can use it

I THINK there is a cups docker for printers

Try here for a Docker Plugin:

I am not sure if it will work for you unless your Hp printer is one of the ones supported.    But as I recall, the base printing driver is pretty much the same for all of the Hp's.  You just may not be able to get to the bells and whistles.

am using HP printer,

I have entered the labove link,

but could not understand what exactly I need to do..

You need to install the cups docker app via CA

I did that,

installed the cups and chose my exact printer model from the list.

but,

couldn't find the printer from the windows side.

I tried CUPS once for the heck of it, couldn't get it to work (it is in the beta section I believe), and then just connected the printer via it's wifi.  Far better solution anyways.

Ask in the support thread that I pointed you to.  The developer (and the people who are using it) should be monitoring it and should be able to help you.
