August 1, 20169 yr Good afternoon All, I upgraded my Norco 4220 from v5 to the latest v6 and was surprised when I got a red X next to drive 1. Here is the information that I grabbed from the smart log, which is included in the zip file that I was told to grab via the wiki. I tripled checked to ensure all cables where nice and snug, by actually removing and reinserting until I heard them click. I recently dusted out the case and thought one of the cables might have gotten loose, so I am now certain, that all is snug in that case. BTW, I also have 2, 2tb replacements coming in the mail so if worse case is I have to rebuild the drive, I am ready. I look forward for any and all help. smartctl 6.2 2013-07-26 r3841 [x86_64-linux-4.1.18-unRAID] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-13, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Model Family: Hitachi Deskstar 5K3000 Device Model: Hitachi HDS5C3020ALA632 Serial Number: ML0220F30XRHZD LU WWN Device Id: 5 000cca 369cd0ee9 Firmware Version: ML6OA580 User Capacity: 2,000,398,934,016 bytes [2.00 TB] Sector Size: 512 bytes logical/physical Rotation Rate: 5940 rpm Device is: In smartctl database [for details use: -P show] ATA Version is: ATA8-ACS T13/1699-D revision 4 SATA Version is: SATA 2.6, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s) Local Time is: Sun Jul 31 20:31:21 2016 EDT SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability. August 1, 20169 yr Community Expert Disk does not look very healthy, no pending sectors but some reallocated, though SMART info does not make much sense, there are much more reallocated events than sectors: 5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct 0x0033 100 100 005 Pre-fail Always - 32 196 Reallocated_Event_Count 0x0032 001 001 000 Old_age Always - 8555 You can do an extended SMART test, if it fails replace it, if it passes it's up to you.

Thank you both for your replies, I ran an extended SMART test yesterday, took a few hours, and it passed. So, in your honest opinion, would you just swap out the drive and rebuild it? Disk does not look very healthy, no pending sectors but some reallocated, though SMART info does not make much sense, there are much more reallocated events than sectors: Marginal power supply? I've been using a Rosewill Lightning-800 Mode for a few years with no hiccups, the only thing I have changed is my UPS I went from an APC 700 to a CyberPower 1500. Do you think I need to swap the PSU?
August 1, 20169 yr Community Expert I ran an extended SMART test yesterday, took a few hours, and it passed. So, in your honest opinion, would you just swap out the drive and rebuild it? Yes, don't like disks with reallocated sectors, in my experience they are much more likely to have more issues sooner rather than later.
August 1, 20169 yr Author @johnnie.black, Thanks for the response. I was leaning towards replacing it as well, that's why I ordered two more 2tb drives. Figured I might as well add a new one while I'm at it. I just wanted confirmation from more experienced members. So, looks like Weds, I'll be rebuilding the drive...Any tips, other than reading the wiki?
