August 15, 20169 yr Hello, some random files show up in one of my shares. Just curious if anyone of you have see these before. see picture
August 15, 20169 yr The AES file type is primarily associated with 'AES Crypt' by Packetizer, Inc.. AES Crypt is a file encryption utility that integrates with the Windows shell or runs from the Linux command prompt to provide a simple, yet powerful, tool for encrypting files using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm. In this day and age of ransomware, I'd stop the array until you figure out why you have encrypted files on the server... (Although it is possible that some legit application put them there and they are not encrypted) Other applications associated with file type AES: After Effects (Stablilzer Settings) by Adobe Systems Incorporated
August 15, 20169 yr Author does not look like anything else, deleted the files, i have two vm running a windows 10 and a Solus Linux. I deleted the files, going to destroy the windows 10 and start fresh. Thank you for the suggestions. Edit come to think of it, I install a new dock called NetData suggeted by another user. on the day these files were created.
August 15, 20169 yr Yikes. I've played about with netdata a bit, but only short periods. Have just run: Find . -name "*.aes" from the command line at /mnt and found none. Phew! I'll keep netdata off for now just in case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
