Fan control - parity check

Featured Replies

Is there any way to set up the fans that cool your hard drives to ramp up automatically during a parity check?  The only fan controllers I've found seem to only be manual.  Maybe not but it would be a nice option if there were a way to do it.  I usually manually turn mine up during that one night a month and it keeps the HD's on average about 5 degrees cooler.

I tend to buy motherboards with 4 pin PWM fan headers that ramp based on BIOS control and interior heat.

New MB, and I think they are 4 pin fan headers.  (I'll check).  However thats based on interior heat overall, and this really is specific to the HD heat which the MB won't monitor.

I use the Dynamix plugin auto fan, it controls fans based on the highest disk temp.

Which is great if you happen to have one of the few boards autofan supports.  None of my Asus boards work with it.  Only one that sort of does is the AsRock, and even then it doesn't work very well, probably due to the cheap board's limited fan controller.

I just got this board but haven't done the upgrade yet.  How do I find out if autofan supports it?  I'll do some searching around tonight on it.

My guess would be that it does.  I had the AsRock C226WS board and autofan worked on it OK, it also worked on the Q87 WS.  Shame both boards were unstable and then died.
