Multiple VM's on a single GPU

Featured Replies

I only have a single GPU, I want to split my resources so i can create a VM for my wife that she can use for facebook and other things (Non gaming) She will be using a thin client to remote into her system

While i will be gaming and sitting directly in front of the unit with monitors attached to the graphics card.

Is this Possible?

Also is their a way to pass through onboard sound to the VM or do i need a sound card if im not using the sound from the HDMI graphics card?

There is no restriction (barring resources such as RAM) on how many VMs can run simultaneously and can be accessed remotely using VNC, RDP or an equivalent.  Such VMs do not need a physical GPU.

Use Plex if you are wanting to watch your own hosted videos remotely. RDP doesn't provide quality enough video (in my experience.)

RDP already passes through audio, if I remember correctly, when run headless.

And if you want to use the gpu for two VMs, you can't do that simultaneously but you can switch between the two. I have a bunch of rarely used VMs, all set up to use the same gpu and if I need to fire one up, I make sure the others are shut down before I do that
