gareth_iowc
i have tried this label unRAID OS menu default kernel /bzimage append vfio_iommu_type1.allow_unsafe_interrupts=1 initrd=/bzroot file i edited was /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg Link to comment
kode54
I ran into a similar issue with my unRAID server. In my case, the first two x16 slots are paired with the PCIe root controller, so it's not possible to split them up into separate IOMMU groups, and the third x16 slot can't be tested in the case I have since there's no room for a double width card in the bottom slot. So, in all likelihood, if you are trying to split separate x16 slotted video cards into separate VMs, you will probably not succeed, as it depends on the motherboard. Link to comment
SpaceInvaderOne
i have tried this label unRAID OS menu default kernel /bzimage append vfio_iommu_type1.allow_unsafe_interrupts=1 initrd=/bzroot file i edited was /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg two things to try first Put your syslinux config file to default. Then you can just enable acs override in the vm settings page, vm manager, you will not see it but unless you have advanced view toggled. (no need to manually edit syslinux.cfg on flash drive it will edit the file for you) as the acs override should look like this label unRAID OS menu default kernel /bzimage append pcie_acs_override=downstream initrd=/bzroot second If that doesnt work move your graphics card to a different pci slot on motherboard and see if that helps. mlinton
I really hope this topic is recent enough to resurrect -- but I didn't see a conclusion. I am having the same issue on a new UNRAID install. The box looks good for the most part. The motherboard is a 1st gen Asus Sabertooth x58. Following the advice above, I swapped the video cards around. I don't have onboard video so I am using the HD 3450 for UNRAID and the GTX 460 for my VM. I have tried having the ATI in every slot and the GTX in both slot 1 and 2 (cant put it in slot 3 due to chassis space). When I try to start the VM, I get the following: Execution error internal error: process exited while connecting to monitor: 2017-01-03T21:55:36.488016Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=04:00.0,id=hostdev0,x-vga=on,bus=pci.0,addr=0x5: vfio: failed to set iommu for container: Operation not permitted 2017-01-03T21:55:36.488046Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=04:00.0,id=hostdev0,x-vga=on,bus=pci.0,addr=0x5: vfio: failed to setup container for group 16 2017-01-03T21:55:36.488054Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=04:00.0,id=hostdev0,x-vga=on,bus=pci.0,addr=0x5: vfio: failed to get group 16 2017-01-03T21:55:36.488064Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device vfio-pci,host=04:00.0,id=hostdev0,x-vga=on,bus=pci.0,addr=0x5: Device initialization failed The same thing happens if I swap the cards around, it just reports a problem with the other card. Any and all help is appreciated! I have the ACS override enabled at the moment (I was hopeful that i would work) but I received the same error with it on or off.
