November 1, 20169 yr I am currently on 6.1.2 and would like to upgrade, but when I got to "check for updates" it just reports "Done" and doesn't upgrade. What do I do?
November 1, 20169 yr Author Do it the old way, manually, see this post. Not a lot of details in that post, is there a detailed step-by-step for manually upgrading? I don't know the affect on dockers and VMs, etc. Also, I would really like to understand why the upgrade isn't working, what tests can I run or other things can I try?

I don't know the affect on dockers and VMs, etc. After copying over those files to the flash drive from the zip (downloaded via LT's website), the rest of the upgrade procedure is identical to upgrading via checking for updates Best guess as to why you can't upgrade is that your server can't communicate with the outside world (DNS / gateway settings incorrect?) (assuming of course that after hitting done you scrolled down and hit Upgrade next to unRaid ServerOS)
November 1, 20169 yr Author Thanks for the help squid. Once I click done, there is no upgrade option, it shows as up-to-date. So I download the zip file, unzip the contents then copy where onto my flash drive? Am I over-writing existing files and folders? Then I go into the webgui, and under dockers I should have the ability to click upgrade unraid?

Just overwrite those files listed in the post (they're all in the root of the flash, except for the syslinux one

I don't know the affect on dockers and VMs, etc. I didn't think I needed to provide any detail, as you've been here a long time and done it the old manual way numerous times before. It's basically the same as always, extract bzroot and bzimage to the flash drive and reboot, just like always. Those 2 files are the critical ones, but v6 then v6.1 then v6.2 have added a few more files to extract that are good to have, but not critical. If you want the new boot GUI, then you need bzroot-gui, if you want the correct change log, then you want changes.txt, etc etc, and they're listed in Tom's post. Also, I would really like to understand why the upgrade isn't working, what tests can I run or other things can I try? Others are seeing similar issues, and I believe from one user's check that the download server location may have changed, sometime after 6.2 or 6.2.1, so upgrading users with versions prior to that are not finding newer versions at the older location. Just my opinion, may not be right. But once you have installed 6.2.1 or 6.2.2, then you are up-to-date and should see any new releases going forward.

If you want to use that Boot-GUI, you also have to copy over the syslinux.cfg file from the syslinux folder to the same folder on your Flash Drive in addition to these three files before you reboot. Otherwise, you won't have the option on the boot menu.
November 1, 20169 yr I should add that since you are upgrading from a 6.1 release to a 6.2 release, you should also read the Additional Upgrade Advice.
November 1, 20169 yr Author Thanks for the details guys, this helps. Yes I have done more than a few upgrades, but not much since the new dockers and plugins and such - and I have messed things up in the past so I like to get a clear set of instructions. I will back everything up and do a parity check before upgrade, and with the details above that gives me enough info for the upgrade itself. Thanks all!
