December 18, 20169 yr Just so I don't screw this up, I am going to be upgrading a 3TB drive to a 4TB drive, running unRAID 6.2.4, just want to confirm the steps are correct. 1.Stop array (2.Select drive I am going to replace, and change it from selected disk to no disk.) (3.Start array.) (4.Stop array.) 2.Power down and physically replace disk. 3.Start server (with array set to not auto start) 4.Change disk selection on replaced disk from 'no disk' to newly added disk. 5.Start array 6.Array should start parity rebuild to replace the missing data onto the newly added 4TB disk. Correct?
December 18, 20169 yr Author Thanks, I adjusted my original post. Just out of curiosity, are the steps the same for unRAID 5.x?
December 18, 20169 yr Community Expert Also no need to disable array autostart, it won't start with a missing disk.
December 18, 20169 yr The newer versions don't require unassigning the old drive and starting the array so it "sees" the missing disk => but just for grins I always still do that. (Your steps 2/3/4) Doesn't hurt anything -- and that way the process works no matter which version of UnRAID you're using [And it adds less than a minute to the time]
