January 25, 20179 yr I've recently started having an issue where I have GUI problems when the server has been up for a little while. I seem to have to reboot every 24 hours or so. It looks good after a clean reboot, but then I start having lots of issues after a day or so: Dashboard is totally empty, no errors or anything. Just white page. Docker tab is empty but full of parse_ini_file errors. VM tab appears as normal but with parse_ini_file errors at top of page. The /boot folder appears totally empty in MC, as if the flash drive is blank. Everything appears again after a clean reboot This all seemed to start with the Preclear plugin throwing errors at me that would not allow me to access the UI at all. I have since removed that plug. Now having these other issues ---- maybe it wasn't Preclear, after all. Any ideas what might be happening? Other things to check? Thanks.
January 25, 20179 yr Community Expert The /root folder appears totally empty in MC, as if the flash drive is blank. Everything appears again after a clean reboot Did you really mean the /root folder and not the /boot folder?

January 25, 20179 yr Community Expert The boot folder being empty suggest a problem with your flash drive. You might put it in your PC and let it checkdisk. Try a different USB port if it keeps happening.
January 29, 20179 yr Author The boot folder being empty suggest a problem with your flash drive. You might put it in your PC and let it checkdisk. Try a different USB port if it keeps happening. Checkdisk didn't find any errors. I'm using a newer Lexar USB3.0 Jumpdrive and I did recently migrate to it from an much older slower flash drive...
January 29, 20179 yr You never have posted your diagnostics, but its probably reasonable to assume that the flash drive is dropping offline. Your syslog may be full with "bread" errors. Try a different controller (ie: USB2 vs USB3) on the motherboard

Try a different controller (ie: USB2 vs USB3) on the motherboard Diagnostics attached. And yes, my syslog is indeed full of bread errors. FWIW, I am using the exact same USB port that I had used with my previous flash drive. The problems started when I switched to the new flash drive. diagnostics-20170131-2311.zip
February 1, 20179 yr Community Expert Checkdisk didn't find any errors. I'm using a newer Lexar USB3.0 Jumpdrive and I did recently migrate to it from an much older slower flash drive... The speed of the flash isn't important since it is seldom read or written and the amount of data read or written is typically very small. USB2 drives seem less likely to have these problems. FWIW, I am using the exact same USB port that I had used with my previous flash drive. The problems started when I switched to the new flash drive. Maybe try another port anyway, a USB2 port if you have one.
February 10, 20179 yr Author I will try switching back to a USB 2.0 drive, but I have to get a replacement key first (I already used my "one" replacement when I tried to upgrade to the USB 3.0 drive).
February 15, 20179 yr Author So I have switched back to a USB 2.0 drive and the issues are gone. The only thing different between when it worked and when it didn't was the type of flash drive. For future reference, the Lexar JumpDrive S45 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive - LJDS45-16GABNL exhibited the problem, but the SanDisk Cruzer Fit 8GB USB 2.0 Low-Profile Flash Drive- SDCZ33-008G-B35 works perfectly. Thanks everyone for your input!
