February 2, 20179 yr Hi, I have no clue if what I did is ok: Command (m for help): p Disk /dev/sdm: 223.6 GiB, 240057409536 bytes, 468862128 sectors Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disklabel type: gpt Disk identifier: F76E1916-91C3-41E6-81BF-1888CDAFE1C0 Command (m for help): n Partition number (1-128, default 1): 1 First sector (34-468862094, default 2048): Last sector, +sectors or +size{K,M,G,T,P} (2048-468862094, default 468862094): Created a new partition 1 of type 'Linux filesystem' and of size 223.6 GiB. Command (m for help): w The partition table has been altered. Calling ioctl() to re-read partition table. Syncing disks. I just let fdisk propose first and last sector...is this ok? The disk will be used as cache disk I will add a second disk to make a raid 0. Rgds.
February 2, 20179 yr Community Expert Why not let unRAID partition and format it? If not use 64 as the starting sector, it's the same used by unRAID and to make it aligned.
February 2, 20179 yr Author Thx johnnie.black! I finally let Unraid format the disk: Command (m for help): p Disk /dev/sdm: 223.6 GiB, 240057409536 bytes, 468862128 sectors Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disklabel type: dos Disk identifier: 0x00000000 Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type /dev/sdm1 64 468862127 468862064 223.6G 83 Linux This is ok, right? Rgds
February 2, 20179 yr Community Expert You should just assign the disk in the unRAID webUI and it will format it. This applies whether the disk is for cache or array.
