Adding an SSD soon, help me with the basics

I've read some posts about guys doing weekly TRIM maintenance, backups, etc.  I am running a few dockers and am about to add an SSD.  No cache disk, but a small 500gb spinner outside the array, and shortly, an SSD as well.

 

I'm interested in doing this right the first time.... So I'm asking the community what plug-ins etc are you guys using for backup and maintenance, and what have you found to be best practices?

 

My goal is to completely backup every part of my dockers (image file as well as the 'appdata' folder), unraid's config folder (or just the entire USB drive), and whatever else everyone thinks is necessary.  Plus maintenance for the SSD.

 

Frankly I don't even know how to add the SSD, will unraid automatically recognize it as an SSD and enable TRIM by default?

Does unRAID support SSD other than in the cache pool?

Look at the CA Appdata Backup Restore functionality that is part of Community Applications.  Dynamix has SSD Trim.
